Today I will show you how to create the waterfall braid. It is a braid that can look very complicated but, in fact, its fairly simple once you know how to do a French braid. I have even done it on myself (in picture no. 3). So be sure to try it out!

Items Needed: Brush or comb, spray bottle, 1 small hair elastic, bobby pins, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5 minutes

Skill Level: medium

  1. Begin by picking up a small section of hair where you want to start the braid {I started on the front, above the right eye}…
  2. Divide this small section into three strands…
  3. Begin a normal French braid.
  4. Do one complete stitch by taking the outside strands over the middle strand once…
  5. You now drop the right hand piece and let it fall out of the way.
  6. This is where it gets a little tricky… now pick up a small section of hair to add back into the braid and add it back as the right hand piece. You have basically just dropped the right hand strand and replaced it with a new strand in the exact same location.
  7. Now take that right hand strand and cross it over the middle strand.…
  8. You then add hair to the top strand {this is exactly what you would do with a regular French braid) and cross it over the middle strand…
  9. You have now just finished your second stitch of the braid at this point.
  10. Repeat steps 4-8 over and over again until you get to a point where you want to finish off the braid.
  11. Using the three remaining strands, create a basic braid down the remainder of the hair and secure with an elastic, or pin the ends underneath some hair to hide them.
