He is joined by Gandalf, Legolas the elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Aragorn, Boromir and his three Hobbit friends Merry, Pippin and Samwise. These films are among some of the best films ever made. Though to really appreciate and understand them you need to have read the books The Hobbit and then the Lord of the Rings before watching the movies. There is the standard theatrical release or the extended versions available. Get the extended versions as they are well worth it. They are some of the most highly successful movies ever and yet have no sex scenes, or swearing. But they are not for children. Teens and up.
